Acne and Diet - The Shocking Truth

by Leigh Sharise

It should go without saying that whatever you eat will affect your body for good or for ill.

The skin happens to be the biggest organ of the human body. It has several jobs, but one thing it's in charge of is helping eliminate waste. If your skin has to get rid of a lot of waste, it's going to look worse for wear. If you eat foods that are less than healthy, it'll show.

Acne and diet are interrelated, which will explore further in this article. You just might get some good ideas on how you can treat your acne problem just by making changes to your diet.

First of all, there are various products on the market. These only help the symptoms. The products don't fix what is wrong in your body to stop producing those annoying zits that you hate.

One of the best things you can do for yourself, apart from cutting out processed foods, is eating more fruits and vegetables. Your skin produces oils naturally, but unhealthy foods cause your body to excrete even more oils.

Acne and diet go hand in hand. One of the known links between acne and diet is the fact that dirty colons cause acne. If your digestive tract is blockaded regularly by foods that aren't easily digested, you will most likely have skin problems.

These kinds of foods get 'stuck,' so they turn into toxins. What happens then? They can't stay in your body, so they get excreted through your skin. By eating healthy and fiber-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, you'll have a better functioning digestive tract and better-looking skin.

If your normal diet consists of fried food, animal products, sugar, tea or coffee, white flour, microwave food, hydrogenated fats, alcohol, and painkillers, it is very likely that you have mucoid plaque in your body.

This type of plaque, along with other types of bacteria, feast on old feces in your system.

Candida is another critter you should know about. This is a kind of yeast in your body that feasts on the sugars that you consume. It then turns around and creates chemicals that cause problems with your skin.

To get more fiber in your diet, try consuming psyllium. You should be able to find it at a grocery or health food store. You can just combine a tablespoon of it with a glass of water, than drink it down.

Psyllium is commonly used in laxative drinks. This is good stuff because it will keep your bowel movements regular and it will clean out all the bacteria.

There are other foods that help fight skin problems too. So you ask, are acne and diet related? The answer of course, yes.
