Following Your Passions Will Bring You Joy

by Healthy Wealthy nWise

Patrick Combs is a comedic entertainer, inspirational speaker, and the best-selling author of Major in Success. To him, passion, gifts and joy are inseparable. To go on and on for years doing something you don't truly enjoy will make you sick. Following your passions will bring you pure joy.

So, how has Patrick Combs had so many successes throughout his life? He did them one at a time. When you try to put too many irons in the fire, the fire will die. Take your passions one step at a time, and use each one as a building block for the next. Don't be afraid. You have to have faith in yourself. People who are afraid something bad will happen before having proof of it are living in fear. Having faith means the opposite. HOPE for something before having proof of it.

Having faith in yourself, in your passions, and taking them one step at a time is sometimes easier said than done. We have too many "shoulds" getting in the way just as Patrick Combs did. "Shoulds" are the things you have to do but don't really want to do. Taking steps toward your passions means you have to prioritize your "shoulds".

Each day, each week, each month, put your "shoulds" in a list. Think about which ones could be done by someone else or could be skipped altogether. Now, replace that "should" with something great, something fun, something that makes you feel passionate. Periodically replace one more "should" in your list with something you'd rather be doing, and before you know it, you'll be living passionately!

Ok, so maybe prioritizing your "shoulds" is a little easier said than done. Patrick Combs once felt that way as well. We all know what it's like to have hardships and doubts, hurdles and insecurities. To be unstoppable, you have to get past all that.

Did someone point out your failures today? Did someone tell you to get your head out of the clouds? If so, I bet you're going to bed feeling like a quitter. Patrick Combs is one coach who'll tell you to "sleep on it". If you wake up still feeling like a quitter, still listening to that doubtful voice in your head, you're probably not concentrating on your passions. If, however, you wake up ready to give your passions another try, you have the heart of a champion and can overcome adversities.

The best way to keep your inner voice empowered and encouraged is to keep a journal. Patrick Combs used a journal to help himself become a successful comedic entertainer. He did it by ignoring all the negative comments from people. He wrote down the good comments - no matter how small or insignificant. He read them constantly to boost his confidence, and he didn't give up. To life your life passionately, you have to live TODAY with passion.

The path to your passions is a roller coaster ride. Patrick Combs rode the roller coaster for three years before becoming a successful comedian. Just remember, the only opinion that matters is yours.
