Charity Motorcycle Ride
[I:http://www.uniquearticlewizard.com/extras/pics/americanbikerxthumb2.jpg] A few weeks back I received an email from a girl Kim about a Charity Motorcycle event she was working on for Bide A Wee an Animal shelter I worked at when I was younger. As I read the info I was looking forward to attending the event only to find it was being held at Jugs and Strokers the only "Biker Bar" on Long Island that does not allow Motorcycle Club Colors. I was pissed to find out I would not be welcome at this event. I then saw the email had been sent out to many other Motorcycle Clubs on Long Island. Pissed Off, I started writing a reply to the email and sent it out to the MC's here on Long Island. Here is what I wrote.
Hey everyone this is LJ James.
You may not know this but I worked at Bide A Wee in Wantagh for many years. I have some great memories of my time working there. As much as I love the place and think Bide A Wee to be a truly great organization, I will not take off my Colors to go inside Jugs & Strokers to attend this event.
I see this email is addressed to many different Clubs. Some of your beliefs may be different then mine and you may take your Colors off to attend this event. I would hope all of you have more respect for your Club then to do that, but these are my beliefs and may not be yours.
I think it is only fair to Kim who is working very hard for this very worthy cause that she know what your feelings are about the Jugs and Strokers policy in regards to Colors. Kim has spent a lot of time working on this event and I would hate to see her event fail because she is unaware of the Revulsion Jugs and Strokers has towards Motorcycle Clubs!!!
Not only is it an old out dated Policy that promotes the Division of Motorcycle Riders, it is also illegal according to NY State Law! I have been working hard to protect and promote Motorcycle Rights and Unity here in NY and world wide. I think it is time We started working hard to change what is wrong here on Long Island! There is an old saying, "if you want to fix the world start in your own back yard".
This is an event that, when I heard about it I wanted to attend. Then I hear it is being held at Jugs and now I am "not allowed to attend".
I am not a bad guy! You all out there know me. How many of your events have I covered in Magazines? How many of you have I DJed for? Not only your Club events but many of your personal family events! I've even preformed wedding ceremonies for a few of you and after I married you I Djed your wedding!!!
You too are also all good people. Your MCs have done many things to make Long Island a better place. You have fed the Hungry, Clothed the poor, and made sure every Child on Long Island had a Toy for the Holidays. Our patches stand for what is great about America! Why should we be made to feel that wearing our Colors is even the slightest bit wrong?
If you ask Jugs and Strokers, they might try to use the excuse "well its not your group its other groups who are the bad guys". That is a cop out, a lie, and an attempt to divide the Long Island Motorcycle Club world!!!
Over the past few years here on Long Island we have seen a Unity in the Motorcycle Club World that many still can not believe. Sport Bike Clubs and Cruiser Clubs riding and hanging together. AMA Clubs and 1% Clubs attend each others events. Law Enforcement Clubs and Outlaw Clubs Breaking Bread and Drinking together at events. I have seen every type of rider hanging out together. This is the Biker dream people!!!
There was a time when we were all told that you could not have a bar on Long Island where all MCs where aloud to mingle together. That there would be nothing but fights and problems. Then JDs Place opened and shortly after that, the Myth was put to rest.
The Motorcycle World here on Long Island has become something We are all very proud of. I call out to all of you MCs, independents, and MROs like ABATE, it is time to end the humiliating practice that Jugs and Strokers has been aloud to inflict upon the Long Island Motorcycle World for far too long!!!
I am tired of this bar being allowed to claim it is a biker bar for bikers, but if your a member of a Motorcycle Club and wear your Colors, you are some how an undesirable, and unwelcome. I say time is up, Jugs and Stokers! You have made enough money off the Long Island Motorcycle world! You need to stop being part of the Problem and become part of the Solution!!!
I'm interested to know what the feelings are of the rest of you!!!
(Because of this reply, Shortly after I wrote this the event was switched to another Long Island Biker Bar "Sick Moon Saloon" That welcomes all who Ride)

Discrimination On The Basis Of Clothing Or Club Membership Is ILLEGAL Article I, Section 11 of the New York State Constitution states "that no person shall be denied the equal protection of the laws of this state or any subdivision thereof." Article 4, Section 40 of the Civil Rights Law provides that "all persons within the jurisdiction of this state shall be entitled to the full and equal accommodations, advantages, facilities and privileges of any places of public accommodations, resort or amusement subject only to the conditions and limitations established by law and applicable alike to all persons." The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that individuals have the constitutional right under the First Amendment to wear clothing which displays writing or designs. Cohen v. California, 403 US 15 (1971). In addition, the right of an individual to freedom of association has long been recognized and protected by the United States Supreme Court. Thus, a person's right to wear the clothing of his choice, as well as his right to belong to any club or organization his choice is constitutionally protected, and persons or establishments who discriminate on the basis of clothing or club membership are subject to a lawsuit.

Effective Ways To Shift Your Mindset
A person's mindset plays a very important role in helping him deal with problems and difficulties that he may face. If he approaches any situations with a negative mindset then he is going to be plagued with negative emotions.
Changing your mindset is not going to be done easily. However, if you follow effective strategies then it won't take as long as you first imagined. The frame of mind you have affects your thoughts and is the main reason for the different types of emotions you experience. Many times the beliefs you have in something are not always true and this can lead to your mindset being fixed in a certain way.
There are plenty of effective strategies one can use to shift your mindset so that you gain a more positive attitude. Certainly a more positive mindset will be useful in all areas of one's life and will lead to you feeling happier and more satisfied with who you are.
There may be certain situations and people in our lives who sometimes affect us in such as way that our mindset and the way that we think is affected. Because of these we tend to close off certain areas in our minds and this in turn stops us from being able to interpret or create new ideas or thoughts for ourselves.
One of the effective strategies to use when you want to shift your mindset is to focus on the things that you are able and capable of doing, rather than those that you can't. It will help you to then excel in all aspects of your life and help in changing your mindset automatically.
When it comes to changing your mimdset, all depend on you. If you want to make changes to your mindset with regards to your career you need to start focusing on the goods aspects of the job. You need to break through those barriers your mind has created and learn more about what new possibilities your life has to offer.
If your mindset is fixed when it comes to goals you have set you won't be able to achieve them unless you shift your mindset towards these goals. A great way is to break the goals you are aiming for down into smaller parts and then you may find that you achieve them a lot quicker.

Using Goal Setting To Spend More Time With Your Family
We reside in a very busy world. The technology that was supposed to give us more quality time has, in fact, increased our workloads. Unfortunately, our families are often the ones to suffer. Goal setting can help us can help us fit every important part of our lives, especially our families, in our busy schedules.
There are most likely a number of reasons why you can't spend the time you want with your family. None-the-less, the number one reason that takes away time from families is work responsibilities. Many jobs entail long hours and some also require travel. Many people work in cities other than the one in which they live. This creates additional problems.
Goal setting that includes lots of time with your family must be planned out with a conscious effort toward that end. If you put forth the exertion, you can overcome most obstacles. Let's take a look at a few choices obtainable by you when planning for optimum use of your time.
Most jobs are very challenging. Goal setting can help you reduce this problem. The main thing you can do is arrange specific times that belong exclusively to your family and stick to that schedule. There are techniques that you can use to reduce the stress of your job. One of the methods is to make a clear transition between work and home. Make every effort not bring your work home with you on those predetermined days that belong to your family.
In your goal setting keep in mind that community adult schools and other educational institutions often offer work related stress reduction classes. Look into them. It may be worth your while to devote the time in one of these classes if the end result is more quality time with your family.
If your job requires that you travel on a regular basis, check for options with your employer. Many companies are now offering flextime for their employees. This may include paid time off for time spent on the road. Another option to think about in your goal setting is the possibility of on occasion taking your family with you on trips.
An obstacle to your goal setting may include the fact that you work away from the area in which your family lives. This may also mean that you work out of state. Electronic mail and digital camerashelp bridge the gap for the person who only sees their families on weekends. Also think about rotating holidays and special family events so that you are home.
Whengoal setting for quality family time, you may need ideas. There are a number of family help guides online that will help guide you. Your community library is also a resource. A number of good books have been published in the last few years that touch on the challenges to quality family time. There are also online family newsletters that are an additional resource. Goal setting can assist you in getting more out of the time you have with your family.

The Secret of Success
According to Jim Rohn, a leading personal development expert, most people don't succeed because of neglect.
In order to succeed, then, we need to do the opposite of neglect. What's that? The thesaurus indicates that the opposite, or antonym, of neglect is to look after or to care for. In other words, we need to look after the things that we have neglected.
Not many folks, percentage-wise, in the world can claim to be millionaires. Jim Rohn was a millionaire at the young age of 31. While other neglected to work at the things that would make them successful, Rohn took care of those things.
Jim Rohn listened to successful people. His friends neglected to do this.
Jim Rohn set goals. His friends neglected to put any goals down.
Jim took care of his mind and attitude by reading good books.
Do we have enough opportunities? Yes. Is there enough money for everybody to get their piece? Yes. Can everyone get an education? Yes. Are there enough jobs? Yes. Is there something out there that you would be good at? Of course.
So why do we fail? Why do we live mediocre lives? Because we neglect.
Don't neglect your life. Don't neglect to surround yourself with worthwhile associates. Don't neglect to set goals that ignite your passions and desires. Don't neglect your attitude. Don't neglect those around you.
The problem with neglect is that it affects us, well, negatively. We suffer. Not usually in a physical way, but maybe, if you neglect to exercise and eat right.
Your self-confidence will wane. Your faith in yourself and others will diminish. Where you once were positive and full of dreams and hope, you will have become negative, pessimistic, and cynical.
The only way to fight neglect is to do something. Act. As the old Nike saying goes, "Just Do It." I say, "Do it now."
Acting will remove neglect from your life. Period. So start doing something. Now.

The Secret of Success from Jim Rohn
What's holding you back from succeeding in your dreams? Jim Rohn, a leading expert in personal achievement and goal setting, says that neglect might be holding you back.
Does that mean that the secret of success then is the opposite of neglect? The thesaurus states the antonym of neglect is to care for or to look after. But this does clear things up to much. Perhaps looking to Jim Rohn's wisdom will help us understand.
Jim Rohn was a millionaire by the age of 31. He attributes his success to his ability to look after or care for the success characteristics others neglected.
Jim Rohn listened to successful people. His friends neglected to do this.
While his friends neglected to set goals, Jim Rohn carefully cultivated his goals.
We neglect to try new things. We neglect to seek mentors. We neglect to ignore the naysayers. We neglect to work. We neglect to set goals. We neglect to keep a positive attitude in the face of adversity.
Unfortunately, neglect brings us down. Just like a neglected house, the problems go beyond just the cosmetic.
Neglect actually affects us on a spiritual and mental level. We lose confidence in ourselves. Our attitudes turn negative. We let down the people we love most. We doubt we can succeed. We doubt our talents. We lose ourselves.
The way to counter neglect is to take care of your dreams by acting on them. Doing something that moves you in the direction of dreams. Do not neglect the things that will move you toward your goals.
When you do something, anything, you will rid yourself of neglect.
