Great Tool For The Home-The HandTruck

When you are using a hand truck around your house you will want to make sure that the wheels are not leaving scuff marks. While in a warehouse this is of no concern in your house it is unbecoming to make and leave scuff marks. This is especially true if you are doing a job for somebody else. No one likes an unprofessional job.

Another precaution that is important to take is to ensure that the appliance you are moving, be it a metal appliance or a wooden furniture unit is not damaged by getting scratched by rough contact with the hand truck. Imagine if you are doing a job for someone else, the amount you will owe in damages could be more than the money you made on the whole job.

If you follow the advice given here you can easily protect yours and your clients furniture and appliances. Just take a piece of tubing insulator and slice it down running length wise, then attach it to the sidebars of the hand truck you are using thereby making a economical buffer and protector of your costly items. It only will take you 2 minutes and cost you a few dollars but it is well worth it!

Even if your hand truck has skid-free tire you must still take precautions when moving your appliances. This is because of the heaviness of the hand truck after it is loaded up. If anything sharp such as a stone should get caught up in the wheels it can inflict a nice scratch on a previously beautiful floor, so try if possible to cover the expensive floor with cardboard.

For those who don't have big pieces of cardboard another option is to use a drop cloth which is readily available at any home improvement center. While it is easier to use than cardboard it doesn't offer the same level of safety because it is not as thick and another co is that you will need someone to hold the cloth tight as you wheel the hand truck or it will just get all messed up.

Now don't just say forget the whole hand truck think, I will just move mu appliances and furniture by hand. That can cause a lot more damage than using a hand truck. WE are talking about damaging your back and stressing your muscles. So just stick to that hand truck and follow the ideas here and you will be glad you did!!

A steel hand truck while not as light as an aluminum hand truck can carry more weight than the aluminum ones, so it is a trade off you will have to decide on. You can't always get everything good in one package.

Common Causes of Anxiety Attacks

Before you can understand what causes anxiety attacks, you first need to know that there are a lot of different reasons why someone might get an anxiety disorder. One person's trigger might not do anything to another person, but there are a few things that have been known to increase the odds of anxiety attacks. Medical experts have concluded that environmental, biological, psychological, social, and life experiences can all lead to panic and anxiety disorders.

Firstly, some people have a genetic predisposition for anxiety and panic conditions. There is mounting evidence that shows that your heredity and the environment you were raised in can lead to panic and anxiety attacks, but this is no excuse to quit looking for freedom. Studies show that some families have higher than average rates of anxiety. When one identical twin develops a panic disorder, the other twin tends to run a greater risk of also ending up with a panic disorder. Non-identical twins share a much weaker link, indicating that genetics does play a role. Some investigations also indicate that anxiety is something that we learn from our parents growing up.

Certain personality types tend to fall victim to anxiety. Some personality types have a higher inclination of acquiring anxiety disorders. Individuals that have lower self-esteem tend to suffer from greater anxiety attacks than people with normal or high self-esteem. If you have not formed effective ways of coping with stress from day to day life you also may have more frequent anxiety attacks. Type "A" personalities also seem to experience panic attacks and nervous breakdowns more frequently when their careful plans fail to pan out. We can adapt these personality faults by trading our beliefs for more flexible ones.

When stressful things happen to us we can sometimes get anxiety attacks. Traumatic experiences, such as poverty, violence, and abuse have a relationship to anxiety disorders, especially when they span a large period of time. If you have endured abhorrent life circumstances you may wish to find counseling or other treatment options to move past these experiences.

Certain medical issues have also been known to be proven to lead to increased amounts of anxiety. Increased amounts of anxiety have been documented in cases of diabetes, high blood pressure, and overactive thyroid glands. Often times the worry associated with a grave medical condition can increase your anxiety.

I hope this introduction to a few of the many possible causes of anxiety attacks has helped you learn about what can contribute to panic disorders. Through understanding I anticipate that you can start your path toward healing yourself and reclaiming your life.

Handling Teenage Stress

Stress is the way the body and the mind react when life changes in any way. Adolescence is a period of several changes, including social, physical, emotional, and academic changes. During this period, teens are more stressed than at any other time of their life.

Several causes are responsible to trigger stress during teen. A few of these factors include demanding school schedules, changes in the body, the constant fear of being bullied amidst several others. Expecting too much from one self and taking the right career decision can also be a critical reason for stress in teenagers. Learning disabilities, financial issues in the family, discord between fogeys are some other less frequent causes of stress amidst teenagers.

Teenagers must handle stress effectively otherwise it might result in to severe health problems. A few common health hazards are despair, nervousness, sleeplessness, poor eating habits and lack of concentration. In case of any of these conditions, immediate professional assistance is required. If not checked for in time, these problems could lead to aggression or social withdrawal. It has been seen, if teenage stress isn't handled reasonably, it might also result in loss of confidence and suicide, in worst cases!

Therefore, it is important that teenage stress be managed properly. Time management is one of the crucial methods to manage stress during teenage. Taking proper time out for homework, sports, chores, and other activities can help you stay less stressed.

Another stress management measure is to set tiny goals and divide tasks into more manageable chunks. Target issues that are in your control and let go of things you don't have any control over.

Eating a healthy diet coupled with exercise can also help deal with stress. You should also reduce your caffeine intake. Alcohol and drugs attribute to stress so make sure you keep away from them.

Certain scenarios can be the root of a stress attack in certain teenagers. It becomes necessary to face such situations in order to deal with stress. Practice situations that you fear such as public speaking and the like. You should also learn to be more expressive. If you find it hard to express your emotions to folks, you can express your emotions through writing or music.

Always try to keep away from negative thoughts. You should usually have a positive outlook towards things. Rather than negative thoughts such as "I am broke", you must look for positive thoughts such as "I will be able to get out of the situation."

Self acceptance is the key to anxiety control during teenage. Often the teenagers suffer from inferiority complex and think that they lack in certain things. But, the truth is that no one is ideal and you have to accept this fact about yourself too! However, if regular methods of stress management fail to help then to seek guidance from a health care professional is the best option available.

Remember, to be not influenced by what others say or feel about you. Being yourself is the only way to gain confidence and fight with teenage stress.

Foot and Hand Therapy: Reflexology

by James Gilbert Pynn

Though I run the risk of coming off as an adherent of New Age philosophies, I feel I have to make the case for something called zone therapy, otherwise known as reflexology. I know what youre thinking: James, you've done it again. Yes, perhaps I have. But so what? This ancient therapy does not require the use of any special crystals or ethereal pan flute music. All that's required is a semi-open mind and your bare hands and feet.

Reflexology is more than just a hand or foot massage, even though it is, well, a hand or foot massage. It's all in the intention. A trained reflexologist knows which points on your hands and feet (and sometimes ears) correspond to which organs, joints, or bodily functions. For instance, the hollow of the foot is said to correspond to your stomach. Have a muscle cramp? Have that part of your foot rubbed.

I know this may all sound like poppycock, but even the esteemed journal, Neuroscience Letters, claims that there is indeed a neural link between the brain and the foot. Of course, I would say, how else are we able to walk? Thanks, I'll be here all week! But seriously, folks, there is something to be said for this form of therapy. I know because it worked for me. My chronic headaches, which bordered on migraines, have abated since I started getting my hands rubbed.

Bizarre, sure. Slightly creepy, you bet. But it works for me. It could work for you. It's like Tai Chi — some people swear they can feel the chi running through their bodies. Other people punch people like that in the stomach and laugh. It's hard to say and I do sympathize with those of you who are creeped out by other people touching their hands and feet.

To that end, I recommend a handy, dandy foot massager. You can find models that are electric (and hence vibrating) or wooden (and do nothing but get mashed into your soft spots). The vibrating ones get the job done and even come with warm water jets and DVD players. I'm just kidding about the DVD players. Either way, it's something that may work for some people out there, and if something works, why not give a try?

Can Workplace Stress Be Managed?

by Charlie Frograrth

Since we all must work, workplace stress is pretty much unavoidable. Once at work you find many things to stress about. This stress is not totally necessary as it is possible to manage with the right tools. You man not be able to avoid stress but you can try to manage it.

The need for everything to be done today is one cause of stress. For instance, your boss wants you to complete a stack of projects as soon as possible but then comes by looking for a project already turned in. Oh, and by the way, once you get that for him, he has another stack of projects to address. It looks like it will never end but with help, you can manage it.

The first step in avoiding the stress is to focus on one task at a time. Don't try to multi-task as that will lead to failure impacting your system. Changing focus between projects takes its toll on your brain as it takes time to change your thoughts from one project to the next. Maintaining focus on one project until completion conserves your energy and thoughts instead of spreading them among various tasks.

Another of the biggest distractions is coworkers. One of them will often ask for your opinion or for your help with their project. This takes time and focus away from your tasks and if possible delay or avoid these time wasters. Saying "no" will help to avoid distractions. I know, it is difficult to just say no, so it may be better to tell them "As soon as I am done here" or "No, not right now". This will give you time to finish the task at hand and by the time you finish, they may have forgotten they asked you for help or may have found a solution on their own. If not, then you can take the time to help them.

At times, your concentration may just run out and this can cause all types of difficulties. You may find yourself rereading the same paragraph several times or staring at the same thing on the computer and still not know what you are reading. This means you are not being effective, your brain is shutting down yet the deadline is coming closer and closer and you must complete the project. At this point it is time to disengage. Get a drink, go to the bathroom, take a short walk, anything to clear your mind. When you do this, you are making sure you are working effectively and reducing stress to low levels.

Learn some desk exercises to reduce stress. Pick up a spongy ball and squeeze it or do some stretches while at your desk. Working your muscles improves circulation and helps keep you alert and aware. Of course, you aren't going to do a full body workout while sitting at your desk, but a little exercise can help to keep your mind focused.

Lastly, examine your work environment to make sure it is comfortable for you. Is it too noisy? Is your desk the proper height? Are you comfortable? Is everything ergonomically correct? If you want to work without undue distraction you need to be comfortable to prevent more stress. Therefore, your work space needs to be set up just right for you. If you address the little things in your work space you will be able to work more consistently and confidently.

A part of working is stress in the workplace. Using proper stress management techniques can minimize the stress. Once the stress is minimized work becomes more pleasant leading to more productivity. If you take care of yourself and the work area around you first then the stress will not control you.
