The Value of Sports Bras

by Tiffany Hart

As we watch the Olympics, one cannot help but notice the stress the women participants are putting on their bust lines. Watching Lolo Jones in the hurdles was painful and not only because she hit that last hurdle and finished out of the medals.

If you do not wear a sports bra when you exercise, you are crazy. Studies have revealed that during simple running, breasts may bounce up and down as much as six to eight inches. There are actual videos on YouTube.com showing this painful fact.

If anything, Americans do not get enough exercise. If you are being active, it is a good thing. That being said, you must protect yourself. You would not jog on a hot road without shoes, so do not do the same without a sports bra.

To understand the need for a sports bra, consider the anatomical support of the breasts. Ligaments are the primary support mechanisms, not muscles. Ligaments stretch and even break, which means you need an alternative form of support.

I will be honest. The average sports bra is not going to set the world on fire from a fashion point of view. In truth, you really should not care. Play hard and party hard, but do them different. Sports bras are for playing hard and seductive bras are for the remainder of the day.

For the longest of times, there was only one sports bra. It was known as the compression sports bra and worked pretty well. In recent times, the encapsulation bra has come on the scene and is receiving good reviews.

The compression sports bra has been with us a long time because, frankly, it is good. It is ugly as sin, but performs well. It flattens the breast to the chest wall and eliminates the breast bouncing that can stress ligaments and produce sagging.

The encapsulation bra is the new girl on the block. She was created for larger women. Instead of eliminating bouncing by flattening the breasts, this bra provides stiff support in the cup to allow movement but limited stress on the ligaments.

Since we have two basic sports bras, you undoubtedly want to know which one you should use. There is no real right answer. The compression bra is good for women with B cups or less, while the encapsulation bra is comfortable for bigger sizes.

The sports bra has not really changed all that much since it was first created, the encapsulation cup notwithstanding. The issue is not so much which version you wear as it is whether you wear one or not. You would be crazy not to.

Visualization For Painless And Effective Weight Loss

by Ann Huz

Looking at ourselves in the mirror can sometimes be demoralizing if we are troubled by our obesity. Even though we do our best not to let it bother us, we usually fantasize of becoming trim and slender. Luckily, there is some good news. You probably didn't realize it but you have already engaged in the basic mental method for dropping weight.

Did you realize that you could apply your fantasies to help you lose weight? That's right. All the images of yourself that you fantasized about being are very potent if applied in the correct way. Simply use the images to generate inner changes. This technique is referred to as visualization.

Yes, you have been practicing visualization and didn't even know it. Now, it's time to use your mind to control your weight loss and shed all the fat.

First, you need to know how visualization works. The process is simple. Visualize an image of how you want your body to be. If you visualize this image everyday, it will eventually penetrate into the subconscious levels of your mind.

Once it is embedded into your subconscious, it will program your attitude and body to start moving in that direction of being fit and healthy.

It is now established that a person's mind has the ability to affect his or her body. As a matter of fact, visualizing for the purpose of improving one self is very popular. From meditation to improving sports skills, and almost everything in between.

You can be affected if people around you are negative about your weight loss goals. But your visualizations can bring about a positive power from your subconscious to negate all the negativity created around you.

Here is a simple tip on using visualization to help you lose weight. Be sure the body you want is attainable. So, if you are a 5'5 petite person and weigh 150 lbs, don't visualize yourself turning into a thin, leggy 6' model overnight. You need to be realistic.

Start visualizing your five foot five inch body in a beautiful dress weighing around 110 pounds. Changes begin to happen deep inside your consciousness. You are more disciplined in dieting. You feel it's fun to work out everyday and sooner or later, you'll attain your desired weight.

Why You Should Tone While Losing Weight

by Robert Kaufman

These days it seems like just about everyone is trying to lose weight, and there seems to be a diet or product out there for each individual. Many of these various products and diets claim they will teach you the weight loss secret that we are all dying to know. Some of the diets and products are successful, and some are not.

In most cases you really don't need to purchase any huge, so-called weight loss secret in order to lose weight. They key is really just to watch what you eat. It takes 3,500 calories to gain a pound of weight. You therefore need to reduce the number of calories you eat by 3500 in order to lose a pound of weight. Reduce your intake by 500 calories a day and you will lose a pound in a week. This is simple in theory, but not always so simple in practice.

However, many people have lost a great deal of weight by practicing just such a plan. Some people reduce their calorie intake a bit more aggressively to lose the weight even quicker. Other people reduce their calorie intake a bit less to lose just a couple of pounds a month. And even others add an exercise program to their diet to lose weight even quicker. Any way you cut it – the 3,500 calories that is, will count towards your ultimately weight loss and you will reach your goal.

In truth some people may have dropped a couple pounds without notice. This is discouraging because your body still looks the same to them. You may have less body fat, but because your body is not toned, the results are not noticeable. You can button your collar with comfort but that too is not noticed.

We can conclude that it is as important that you tone your muscles while you loose weight. If you haven't exercised in some time it is also important to start slowly. With the right combination of diet and exercise you will see results. You can't help it. Think of exercise and diet as your weight loss cure for a flabby body.

You can start toning your muscles while you loose weight by walking. Begin by walking about half an hour a minimum of three days a week. Gradually increase the time you walk as you gain endurance. Not only will the walking help in toning your muscles while you loose weight, it will also help you to lose additional weight.

You can also work with light weights to tone your arms. You could do some leg exercises like squats and lunges to help tone the muscles in your butt, legs and thighs. Crunches can do wonders for abdominal muscles. As recommended earlier start slowly. Do about 10 repetitions of each exercise at a time.

It's also important to know that when you are working on toning your muscles while you loose weight, you should alternate the days that you work on certain muscle groups. For example, do abdominal and arm exercises one day, and the next day do leg and butt exercises. This allows each muscle group to rest and repair for a day, which further aides in building muscle.

Cost Plastic Range Surgery

by Clinton Korte

Plastic surgery prices have dropped like a rock in the last two decades. Affordable plastic surgery is now within the financial grasp of most people. And because procedures are affordable, millions of people are trying to figure out how to get the best price from the best doctor in their area. It can be a daunting task, but with a little preparation anyone can find a good surgeon for the procedure they want at a price within their budget.

In general there are two types of plastic surgery: cosmetic and reconstructive. Insurance covers most reconstructive surgery, such as breast replacement after a mastectomy, or surgery for damage caused by an accident or fire. Cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. Most often cosmetic surgery is done to correct something the patient doesn't like about himself or herself. So consumers of cosmetic surgery want to be well informed when it comes to price and the surgeon's ability.

Because prices vary widely, it is important to do some homework. There is a difference between a surgeon who is licensed to perform plastic/cosmetic surgery and a board-certified plastic/cosmetic surgeon. As it turns out, any physician who is licensed to perform surgery can perform plastic/cosmetic surgery. Their rates are usually cheaper. However, they have not had the specialized training required to become board certified. So this may not be a savings you are willing to risk.

With this in mind, it is usually a good idea to shop around. Anyone considering plastic surgery for the first time should consult with several plastic surgeons. At the consultation, they should get a written estimate for the cost of the procedure, and what the fees cover. Do they, for instance, cover post-op and pre-op care? Candidates for plastic surgery should also determine the skill and training level of the surgeon. How many procedures similar to the one they are considering has the surgeon performed?

The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reports that the most commonly requested plastic surgery procedures are: liposuction, breast augmentation, breast reduction, hair replacement, rhinoplasty (nose job), abdominoplasty (tummy-tuck) and eye-lid surgery.

A survey of board-certified plastic surgeons, revealed some average prices for the most commonly requested surgeries. They are as follows:

(1) Rhinoplasty (nose jobs), $4400.

(2) Abdominoplasty (tummy-tuck), $5250.

(3) Silicone breast implants, $3900.

(4) Breast reduction, $5500.

(5) Eyelid surgery, $3000.

(6) Eyelid surgery, $2950.

If the surgeon the consumer selects gives an estimate substantially higher or lower than the average, they need to find out why. Is it because post-op and pre-op care is not included? It is essential to know the reasons for the deviation, before they allow the surgery to proceed.
