The Value of Omega Fatty Acids
Growing up in Iceland, I had to drink lysi. If you're not familiar with it, it is pure fat from fish liver. It was HORRIBLE. It is however, very healthy and is now available in capsules or pills.
All I knew is that it was somehow beneficial to me and my health. As an adult, I developed an insatiable curiosity about natural health remedies. So, in addition to my other research, I decided to research the benefits of the fish fat.
Our bodies require certain vitamins and nutrients. Our bodies are not capable of creating many of them so we have to ingest them. Omega Fatty Acids is one of these essential polyunsaturated fatty acids.
The best place to get this is in fish such as salmon, tuna or sardines. But, because of the mercury content and other toxins, this needs to be in limited quantities. Two servings per week at most.
Flaxseed, walnuts, soybean or their oils also contain omega fatty acids. In fact, certain foods like margarine, baby formula and orange juice are now manufactured by adding the fatty acids into them.
Food is a great way to add omega fatty acids to your body. You might want to consult with your nutritionist to verify just how much is enough for you.
For those whose diets do not provide an adequate amount of the omega fatty acids, supplements may be a good alternative.
Why do we want to do this anyway? Studies have proven that babies require this for proper development.
Research even shows that some heart related problems can be reduced by regular intake of omega fatty acids. Blood pressure can also benefit from this.
Recent research even shows possible possible benefits for cancer treatments, specifically, breast cancer, prostate and colon cancer
While I always encourage a well balanced diet, if weight loss is your goal, I strongly recommend my Weight Loss Breeze Program.

We teach our kids early on the importance of team sports in their lives. By the age of 5 most children a involved in a team sport or group activity. Mom, dad, I am sure you proudly recall watching your first born playing soccer at the age of 5. The rules are simple. Everyone plays and nobody loses. Funny how the game always seems to end in a tie. Your little guy chases the ball mixed into a cluster with the other children. It's wild kicking in that cloud of kids. Thank goodness for shin guards! With time and practice your child continues to improve and quickly develops some real athletic talent.
His atletic career continues to grow. He dabbles in soccer, basketball, baseball and football until he finds the one sport he really excels in. It is then that you see his passion for the game and his true desire to win. You pay for the private instuction and make the commitment to practice and play 5 days a week or more.
As a family, you commit to raise the money to make your child's "World Series" deam a reality. You sell hotdogs, wash cars, and seek sponsors. Your friends , family and community rally around you, contributing to the cause. You have raised the funds…the team will have their opportunity to play.
Prior to arriving at the tournment, your child's coach informs you that the tournment allows teams to pick up "stud" players. To stay competitive with the other teams your coach feels he must do the same. The result… Your child and many of his teammates sit on the bench.
Who makes these rules and what does it do to your child's self esteem? What message does it send to your child? "You were good enough to play on our team all season, but you are not good enough to play these kids." I say come as a team, play as a team, leave as a team!

Some Tips to Lose Weight After Pregnancy
Getting back your pre-pregnancy body is a common desire after delivering your baby. The question is how? Now that you have a newborn, it's time to adjust to the new routine, and perhaps breast-feeding is part of that process. It can be very difficult to find an effective method to loose weight after giving birth.
Breastfeeding is not only the healthiest way of feeding your baby, in fact, it can help you a lot to achieve your weight loss goals. Breast feeding burns up to 500 extra calories per day! Gaining weight during pregnancy is vital to prepare the body for breast-feeding, which requires a great deal of calories to perform.
Of course, if you are breast feeding you will need to carefully consider your diet and not lose any nutritional content the baby may need. You can decrease your caloric intake just be sure to keep whole grains, fruit, vegetables, vitamins and minerals on the table.
Weight loss after a pregnancy is no different than any normal time. And losing weight comes with a list of foods to be avoided, like sugar in large amounts, fatty and fast food – one famous value meal packs nearly 1000 calories.
You can try with healthy food like: fruits of all kinds, vegetables (especially leafy green ones), whole grain bread, water and milk (particularly for breast feeding mom's).
Water is essential to properly function your body, and thus, should stay in one of your major food groups. If your body does not get adequate water supply for excretion of metabolic products, you suffer from dehydration and in case if you are feeding milk to your child, its production is likely to be affected.
Drinking 8 glasses of water per day will be enough to do the job. You will find that this can raise your metabolism and keep your body running well. Studies have shown that 500 ml of water a day can increase metabolic rate by 30%.
Drinking water will give you a full feeling and help curb your hunger. Actually the body requesting water is many times what you mistake for hunger. In addition, you will feel fuller longer after meals.
Also, there's no better way to achieve the look you want without exercise. Since your body has just undergone a major trial, you should consult a doctor before you begin any type of strenuous work out.
To get started, add walking to your daily routine and slowly build up to a full workout. Exercise doesn't have to be at a gym; take the baby for a walk, avoid the elevator, park in the back of the lot, anything that gets your heart pumping and you moving.
Exercise is vital due to the fact that it increases your heart rate, which therefore raises your metabolism. Things like heart disease risk goes down significantly with regular exercise.

On Day 6 of the GTD Thirty Day Challenge, I am going to talk about how I set up my tickler file and exactly how to set up a tickler file.
After listening to some of David Allen's conversations, I think he uses 43 folders for his tickler file. The 43 folders are 12 for each month and 31 for each day. If it is January, I'd have 31 folder into the January folder of my months. After each day, I'd take that day's folder and move it behind the next month, in this case February. If it's the 20th, the previous folder for days 1-19 would be behind the February folder now.
How does this work? Let's say I got a bill today that I was due on February 3. Since it's important that I remember, I would put it in the February 3rd folder. When February 3 arrives, I would look in my tickler file and it reminds me to pay the bill.
I really do not like using 43 folders for my tickler file. For starters, it's hard to remember to check it every day. People then have to remember to check it and they'll start to ask themselves "how do I remember to check my tickler file?" The next reason is it is very bulky and not very portable. Finally, when you move the daily folders behind the next month, you have to remember to move the items in that months folders to the proper day.
If you use GTD though, a tickler file is essential to set up because there are things in the future that you need to remember. The folder type of tickler is perfect if you have a lot of physical type items you use as reminders. For most people, their work doesn't create the kind of physical items that really justify a folder tickler file and I suggest setting up a tickler file differently to address the problems above.
How I Set Up My Tickler File
The first thing to do is to create a plastic folder for your briefcase called "Waiting For" and put all the things you need to remember in the future in it.
Next, I created a folder in my email account called "Yahoo Reminders". You'll see this folder if you look at the image of my email folder structure in How To Set Up Your GTD Email. I then set up a filter for all Yahoo Reminders to go into this specific folder and not in my inbox for processing.
The last component is Yahoo calendar. I put any item I need to remember and enter it as an all day event. I attach and email reminder to it that sends me a reminder 2 days ahead of the day I need to remember it. As a second reminder, a text is sent too.
In the above example, the bill I got needed to be remembered on February 3rd. I enter the all day event on the third like "Pay very important bill" and by default it sends me an email reminder two days before it occurs. The actual physical bill goes into my "Waiting For" folder in my briefcase.
On February 1st, an email is sent ot me that reminds me I have to pay a bill on the third. The email bypasses my inbox and is filtered into my Yahoo reminder folder. As a backup, I get a text message too. Using text and email both gives me a backup in case I can't check my Yahoo reminders folder I then have a reminder sitting on my blackberry too. I review my reminders each day on my Blackberry and if I am at my computer, I review them too.
This system is an extremely portable and streamlined tickler file. Everything reminds me on it's own and I don't have to move items around in my tickler file. Email reminders are awesome to remind you of things you have to do and you have no idea how much this helps your productivity until after you use them. If you use 43 folders, I'd still suggest using email reminders 100% to improve your GTD setup.
Once I learned how to set up a tickler file in this fashion, it improved my effectiveness at remember everything to a complete level.
